21 July - Task 7 - PWC Montalegre - and prize giving

Pre-Start Gaggle on last task day
A great task today saw a 85km to goal, the other side of Chaves.
As those in goal didn't get back with the retrieve busses until gone 9pm, the prize giving was delayed to 22h which in fact started at 22h30 and was live streamed  be seen on www.justin.tv/paraglidingworldcup.
Yan Martail got the No. 1 spot for the comp and top woman was won by Keiko Hirari who flew like a demon on her Enzo.

The prizegiving itself was a great event with all the necessary pomp, and held in the red-carpetted auditorium in the HQ building. Cinema seats, bright lights and a stage set the scene.
I was very far from the top of the results page, but not last either, thankfully.

A huge experience which will not be forgotten. The pilots are fast, very fast, and even if you think you are pushing bar, they are pushing their's harder and further.

We were on the podium for the No.1 spot for the team event. Team Swing won by a clear margin and we were thrilled about too, as no doubt the sponsors.

As for the venue, interesting flying although could not get my head around roll polly hills and flat lands, so lots of practice and in windy conditions to be done by me soon.
Right, its 23h55 and time to hit the road for the 10hr drive - direction Ager, Spain for the Nordic Open.
I am looking forward to heading to the mountains for some ridge running and strong thermals off the peaks!
