Portuguese Open-Serra da Estrella, 7-12 July Task1

Task 1

First task day and conditions good. With north westerly wind an 80km race to goal out over the flats. Wind was irregular on take off and there was a bit of a jostle.  The first 20 or so pilots got away from launch quickly, the others not so lucky as the wind died completely before switching to the West take off. Climbs were strong and taking a direct line I caught up with the tail end of the lead gaggle, arriving in goal 2h40 mins later. Awaiting TV crew announced that I was the first woman in goal and many congrats all round as I packed up and sheltered from the heat. The 2hr return to HQ felt long although the bus driver didn't spare the horses! Download and return to hotel at 22h00. Bed!
